A Seamless Pathway to Success

Cincinnati’s Hughes STEM high school is designed to be a personalized learning community with a school culture that fosters academic and personal success for students. This approach includes:

  • Earn college credit while in high school
  • Internship and workplace experiences
  • Advanced skills in technology applications
  • Technology across the curriculum
  • Project-based learning in all core classes
  • Mastery of content for college readiness
  • Critical thinking, including seminars
  • Student support through Advisory Groups
  • Online access through Blackboard

Coursework & STEM Exploration

The academic program focuses heavily on developing key skills in mathematics, science, social studies, reading, writing, critical thinking and technology. Study skills, test-taking strategies, and academic monitoring will take place through an advisory class. There will also be a strong focus on developing the character and interpersonal skills needed to succeed in life and the workplace.

In years three and four students will progress to more advanced and individualized course work. They will build on their overall knowledge of STEM fields and careers and focus on a specialized STEM pathway. Job shadowing, internships, and summer employment opportunities will be a rich part of each student’s experience. Students will leave high school with college credits and professional certifications, giving them a seamless pathway into college.
