College & Career Planning

The Hughes STEM High School is a unique, blended classroom and non classroom-based public educational model that is tailored to the needs and interests of each individual student. Through providing individual education plans each student will have the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school and participate in internships and real-world workplace experiences.

As Hughes STEM high school develops its multiple pathways, students in their third and fourth years will attend classes developed in partnership with Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati . The classes will be designed to meet college expectations and eligible to earn credit. The model is based on a 2 + 2 design in which some students may be able to work towards the equivalent of an Associate Degree by the time they are ready to graduate from high school and will only need an additional two years to earn a Bachelor’s degree. The college credits earned by students in high school will then transfer to an institution of higher education of the students’ choice
