PBS NewsHour selects 2018 Student Reporting Labs Fellows

Sean Student at Hughes STEM High SchoolSean Davis, 9th grader at Hughes STEM High School is among twenty talented youth storytellers from 14 states who will travel to the nation’s capital this summer from June 24-29 to produce stories alongside public media mentors. Students will be immersed in a week-long program learning all aspects of video production while producing their own stories.

These middle and high school fellows will be participants in the 4th annual Student Reporting Labs Academy in Washington, D.C. They will work with public media mentors to produce original digital content and sharpen their journalism and production skills. Sean, as well as the other fellows attending this year’s academy, will also help program leaders develop strategies to engage young people with the news and current affairs, and ensure that diverse youth voices are active in the conversations about critical issues facing the nation.

Hughes STEM High School is very proud of Sean and we are excited that he will represent Hughes in this prestigious program.

Find out why these students think youth media is changing the world.
